A TEAM PAINTING LLC / OCTOBER 2026 COLOR NOTES

Grounded vs. Celery: Which green feels like home?

Two greens. Two different moods. Explore BEHR and Sherwin-Williams’ 2027 spotlight colors, then meet our own October favorite: orange.

Earthy & cozy meets fresh & airy

Queens Village homes have their own character—and their own lighting. Here’s how we’d approach these two greens during a color consultation.
BEHR • T27-01

Grounded

The look: An earthy olive/moss green with subtle brown undertones.
Our room idea: A cozy living room or dining space with warm wood and cream accents.

The story behind the shade

BEHR introduced Grounded on August 26, 2026 as a brand-new color and its 2027 Color of the Year. The launch marks the tenth anniversary of BEHR’s Color of the Year program. Inspired by nature, its name reflects the wish for a comfortable, lived-in home.
SHERWIN-WILLIAMS • SW 6421

Celery

The look: A soft, airy herbal green with subtle yellow undertones.
Our room idea: A breakfast nook, bedroom, or reading corner with warm white and natural wood.

A familiar shade, a new spotlight

On September 15, 2026, Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams jointly named Celery their 2027 Color of the Year. Selected from the Rewild forecast, this existing shade gained a new role around comfort, nature, and personal expression. Its original introduction date is not confirmed here.
Our take: Sample Grounded if you enjoy deeper, earthy color. Sample Celery if you prefer a lighter green. View both beside your flooring and furniture in daylight and evening light. Decorative page backgrounds are illustrative—not exact paint swatches.
A TEAM’S COLOR OF THE MONTH

October belongs to orange.

A little autumn warmth—without turning the living room into a pumpkin patch. Our lead pick is Sherwin-Williams Copper Harbor SW 6634: a muted burnt orange we’d pair with warm white, natural wood, and navy accents.

Three brands. Three ways to warm up a room.

01 • BEHR Blazing Autumn M220-6A

Persimmon orange with a hint of brown. Our suggestion: a dining nook or welcoming entry accent wall, finished in eggshell for a gentle sheen. View the manufacturer’s color.

02 • Benjamin Moore Adobe Orange 2171-30

A sunbaked orange with a coral-red influence. Try it on an interior dining-room accent wall in eggshell, or an interior accent door in a suitable satin enamel. Benjamin Moore does not recommend this shade for exterior paint. View the manufacturer’s color.

03 • Sherwin-Williams Copper Harbor SW 6634

A Team’s lead pick. A muted burnt orange with enough personality for a living-room feature wall or breakfast nook. Choose eggshell for soft wall sheen, or satin if you want a little more shine. View the manufacturer’s color.
These are A Team Painting’s seasonal selections of established colors, not three new paint releases. Room placements and finish combinations are our suggestions.

How much gloss is right?

Eggshell: Our starting point for most living-room and dining-room walls: a soft sheen without strong reflections.
Satin: A little more shine; useful when the chosen product and surface call for it.
Semi-gloss: Consider a suitable trim enamel for doors and trim.
High gloss: A statement finish for carefully prepared accents. It makes bumps and repair edges more noticeable.
Choose the finish for the surface, condition, and paint product—not the color alone. Sheen names and washability vary by paint line. Read Benjamin Moore’s finish guide.

What New York designers are talking about

For 2026, documented NYC design discussions include rich color, natural materials, and rooms that feel personal. These are design directions—not a survey of every Queens homeowner.

Rich greens, deep teal & burgundy

Jessica Shaw of NYC’s The Turett Collaborative highlights emerald, sapphire, deep teal, and burgundy. Her advice includes trying deeper colors in smaller spaces or accents, alongside natural wood and texture.

Color drenching & tactile comfort

Shaw also discusses carrying a cohesive color across a room’s surfaces. We’d explore this in a study or bedroom, choosing the appropriate finish for walls, doors, and trim.

Olive, terracotta & navy

Janovic’s NYC 2026 forecast points to saturated earthy palettes. For a Queens home, our interpretation is simple: start with the furniture you love, then connect the wall color to the wood tones, textiles, and light already in the room.

Fresh color starts with a sound wall.

Before repainting, have cracks, nail pops, and peeling areas assessed. Water stains or bubbling paint need the moisture source addressed before cosmetic repairs. A new color deserves careful preparation.
